I am 18 and recieved this set for Christmas.. Believe me.. this is not a fragile toy if built correctly.. although i don’t really approve of the way The Lego Company decided to attach the forward and rear ’round’ segments.

As for landing gear, yes, they are fragile indeed. but if you have big hands like I do, you should have NO problem getting them back on. All I do is hold the whole bottom of the ship, with the grey section (IMO: the center weight) in the bottom of my palm.

It took me all of an hour to get this thing built and displayed. I like this one so much more then the original that Lego released. The escape pod is more… realistic? Occupants are not going to die of oxygen starvation.

It has a lot more parts then the original. I think it’s cool the way that if done correctly, you can effectivly take the whole ship and split it in two.. and if you have jedi minifigures.. you can use the space in the assembly above the boarding ramp ( the grey 6×4 plate comes off to reveal a space just big enough for 3 or 4 lightsabers)

My son just turned 5 and loves Star Wars and recently became interested in Legos. Although the instructions are easy for him to follow because they are just pictures, sometimes it does call for adult interaction on the smaller pieces and stickers. Its a great hour or so for us to spend together while we build it and then he plays for hours with it along with the other sets. Only down side is the small pieces and if it breaks you have to pull the instructions out again..but that is expected with all lego sets like this.

Le regalé esto a mi hijo de 10 años y le encantó, es un poco más grande de lo que esperaba y tiene algunas partes en las que necesitó un poco de ayuda para armar, asi que fué muy entretenido para ambos. Estoy muy complacido. Por supuesto que hay que tener delicadeza a la hora de jugarlo porque seguramente se necesitará recolocar alguna que otra pieza, ¿pero no es esa la idea? ¿que se pueda armar y desarmar cuantas veces se quiera?

This is a fun little playset. It’s a little more reminiscent of the Harry Potter sets than it is typical Star Wars fare (i.e. playset vs. model), but it’s still not disappointing. Well… to be honest… I have two small complaints. In order to TOTALLY COMPLETE this set, you also need to buy “Jabba’s Prize” and “Jabba’s Message”. Sneaky, George, sneaky. (Or is that the Lego company being sneaky? Heh heh)

And then, below the actual working trapdoor, the playset opens up to reveal… a big empty space devoid of a Rancor. So, Luke falls through the trap door, but what’s gonna try to eat him?

If they come out with another set called “Jabba’s Rancor” (or “Jabba’s Big Nast Pet”), first I’ll scream… then I’ll probably buy it.

Sigh.

Other than the hilarious take on the Slave Leia minifigure (you’ve never seen Leia like THIS), this set also includes Luke (in mysterious black, Emperor-like robe), a “Gonk” Droid, a Bo’marr monk spider/droid, the supervisor droid, and of course, Jabba himself in all his plastic, non-CGI glory.

Oh, just buy it and build your own Rancor!
